  1. I can not believe how much is put into kite fights. They can last from a half of second to a half hour. That amazes me how long a kite fight can last. There is a specific technique use to fight kites. Being precise when letting the string go is a major key. I think the art of kite flying is an amazing hobby to have.

  2. I think that kite fighting seems very interesting and fun. theory is based on a complex dynamic relationship of the wires. Whichever wire cuts the other wire first would win. Usually it is the bigger kite that wins and you need to have a lot of patience and skill in order to win the game.

  3. Kite flying used to be a common hobby in Afghanistan before the war. Many considered it as art. The people of Afghanistan would compete to see who had the best kite. The kites came in different sizes. The wire that connected the kite was called the tar. The drum, which was called charkha was the storage for the wire. Who ever loses the kite fight would lose their kite because it would fly out into the air.

  4. Kite flying can be a competitive sport. The chances of you winning depend on many different things such as the type of string and the material the kite is made of. Although kite fights may not last very long, watching them can certainly make you raise your excitement level because you want to know how is going to come out victorious.

  5. I learned that kite fighting is not that easy you have to do a couple of things to learn how to run the kite right. The kite can make you have all types of marks on your hands. The kite can also make your fingers bleed. Some people fly kite everyday. Flying kites can be somebodies hobbie and most of all people do anything everuthing they love.

  6. My reaction to kite fighting is that it is like their own little super bowl with kites. What I think is that since Afgahastan doesn't really have sports they have kite fighting which is like a big sport. Kite fighting is when a bunch of people get together and have kite fights, and if your the winner you recieve a sharti. Which is a great thing to have.

  7. This is a very interesting custom when it comes to kite fighting. It use to be that people would come together to show off their kites and to just fly them. Then when better material was used to make the kites, the people thought of different ways to compete to make theirs better. So soon it became a competition against everyone to see who’s kites were better and lasted longer.

  8. After reading the article about kite fighting, I have learned that it is a very competitive sport. The objective was to cut the opponents string while keeping yours in the air. The strings were coated in crushed glass to provide an edge to cut with. One would expect this sport to be a very safe sport; however, it is said that young boys have broken bones and even been killed. The explanation for this is that to get to the wind, one must be high up. Children would climb roofs, with their eyes in the sky, not on the ground, they would fall off. This shocked me when I had found out.
